This was my first ever guest appearance at a con, and I was very honored to be included in the programming. I got to talk about my favorite show, The Walking Dead, and many of my favorite authors. Discussing literature and writing with others who share my interests and passion for books is amazing. The other panelists were impressively knowledgeable and the audience, too! My favorite thing about the con was the great people who attended. The audience would ask questions, participate actively in the discussions, and have a genuine conversation. What a blast!
Saturday night, I had a release party in my hotel room, and a lot of people stopped by to share this special event with me. We had sparkly blue Blackout punch and lots of delicious treats. President of the Katherine Wynter fan club, Beth Ard, stopped by to celebrate and catch up! I also had some special family guests and little ones who came to have fun with us. Introducing my family to the fun of a con was an added benefit! I can’t thank them enough for all their support.
That Book Place Author’s Fair
Wow. The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana area has some fantastic authors. It was great to meet and chat with so many talented people, and of course selling books was fun, too! A troop of Girl Scouts joined the event to sell cookies (I managed to only buy one box!) and we had a great time. About four different Girl Scouts purchased my zombie story, Blackout, and became corrupted into the fun and awesomeness that is zombie fiction and horror. Did I feel a little guilty about corrupting Girl Scouts….sure! However, their evilicious delight and excitement about reading warmed this author’s heart.
A big shout out to Frank Hall and his awesome bookstore That Book Place for organizing and hosting the fun.
